ABOUT IMPERIAL AIRWAYS
No airline has ever evoked so much interrest and admiration artistically as well as strategically, than Imperial Airways. The company formed the foundation and bedrock of British commercial long range air transport history and operated from 1924 to 1939 and served Europe via British Empire routes to South Africa, India and the Far East (later including Malaya and Hong Kong). Local partnership companies included Qantas as Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services Ltd operating from Australia and TEAL Tasman Empire Airways Ltd oeprating from New Zealand.
The company merged into British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC) in 1939 which later merged with British European Airways Corporation to form the British Airways of today.
